Contrary to common belief, Jake is not subscribed to the IDM list, but I've
been forwarding to him any posts that pertain to his releases. (Artists
like feedback, y'know.) Anyway, Jake wanted to respond to one of today's
posts, and asked me to forward this to y'all.
As a personal opinion from my own damn self, I agree that on first glance,
the made-up words utilized by Jake, Autechre, Aphex, U-ziq, Sqpusher, etc.,
do seem like an IDM cliche. But as I think you'll see from Jake's
explanation, many IDM-ish artists put the same type of mindset into their
titling as they do their beats.
Besides, without lyrics, those titles gotta come from somewhere. :)
